I watched a special on HBO the other day about cannibals. The lady interviewed one guy who is in prison for 200-something years. He described chasing two women through the jungles of Vietnam, killing one and tying the other to a tree, then he cooked part of the thigh of the one he had killed over a fire and ate it in front of the other woman. He described the taste as being like the butt end of a pork roast, which seems to be refuted by the article you've posted. Interestingly, he refused to talk to the interviewer about some of his other victims, notably a young boy and some prostitutes of whom he ate the sexual organs. It was so very, very creepy, and yet I watched the whole thing.
I've heard of it before, but sadly, even if it isn't a scam, I can't eat tofu. I can eat veal, of course—and have done so, though I don't know that I should feel good about that, or do it again—but given how veal calves are raised, I can't help but feel that this is an unethical alternative.
