The Impossible Rhyme
Feb. 22nd, 2008 10:06 amThe great Tom Lehrer once stated, in an interview, that one of the principal reasons behind his career as a songwright was that he enjoyed the challenge of puzzling out rhymes. Tackling that fruity old trip-up of rhymesmiths through the ages, he said (in this interview) that
Eating an orange
While making love
Brings a bizarre enj-
oyment thereof.
With typical modesty¹, he shrugged this accomplishment aside with a remark of Just flexing
.
