The Impossible Rhyme

The great Tom Lehrer once stated, in an interview, that one of the principal reasons behind his career as a songwright was that he enjoyed the challenge of puzzling out rhymes. Tackling that fruity old trip-up of rhymesmiths through the ages, he said (in this interview) that

Eating an orange
While making love
Brings a bizarre enj-
oyment thereof.

With typical modesty¹, he shrugged this accomplishment aside with a remark of Just flexing.

¹ The great and humble Mr. Lehrer wrote this Introduction himself for a performance introduction, rather than have anyone else write boastful words under his name.
